If you need to look up a specific business from the site, you need at least one of these details: Entity Name, File Number, Trade name, Document Tracking Number, or RA Name. Below are the steps on how to complete the search successfully.

Step 1. Visit this link and proceed with your search using the District of Columbia Secretary of State search tool. You need to be registered for a SCRA CorpOnline Web Portal Account first, but the sign up does not take too long. Then, log in to the page and you will be able to start searching.

Step 2. When you are already logged in to your own account, go to “Business Filings Search”. See the screen capture to make sure you are in the right page.

Step 3. If you will be searching by Entity name, enter the characters on the proper field. Example of a name is “Bloom”. If you want get more accurate results, click “Entity Status” and fill out the fields (“Starts With” and “Entity Status”) with the proper information. Finally, hit “Search”.

Step 4. The results will contain the Name, File Number, Effective Date, Status, Model/Type, Locale, and Qualifier. The list will start with the most accurate match to the entry.



By clicking the name of a search result, you will be redirected to its own page where more information will be viewable. You can also download information, file annual reports, and register or renew new certificates in the Washington DC Secretary Of State.
